Adding in a Container Water Garden to Your Home Yard and Garden

If you love the idea of a water garden but you don't have a lot of space or money, there are other options.
  • In fact, adding in a container water garden to your backyard is the perfect idea.
  • If this sounds like a great hobby, you don't have to have a lot of space or money to have a water garden in a gardening container.

If you have a tiny yard or a small porch, you can get a nice water garden in a container.
  • This can get you started in water gardens and there are many small options available that you can use.
  • Often you can go with a pretty tub garden that will look incredible, and you can get creative with the containers, going with boats, tubs, and other unique options.

The great thing is that you can easily do this yourself.

  • Various types of containers will work well for a container water garden. Urns, pails, pots made of terra cotta, whiskey barrels, and other options can be used.
  • You just need to seal them or have a liner so you keep the water in place.
  • The right plants can take a simple container and make it into a beautiful water garden. You may want to go with just a big lotus in the water garden or you can go with various types of plants like water lilies, pygmy water lilies, and other water flowers that will look great.

Depending on the size of the container that you have and whether or not you have the right temperature, you may be able to add in some fish to your water garden. Small fish look great in small water gardens, while fish like koi do well in larger options.

Of course, if you are going to have a container water garden, there will be a bit of maintenance to do. If you have a small container, you will only have to top off the garden with a hose. If you don't have fish, it won't be hard to clean either. Just make sure you carefully watch the garden to be sure that you keep enough water in it and after rains, watch for overflow.
